My
husband Don and I (I’m Debbie) have been doing weddings for over 27 years.
Don had decorated and directed weddings as a special event decorator before
we even met. I started in the business after graduating from college by just
doing flowers and candelabras. I gradually added Bridal gowns, prom and mother
dresses, tuxedo rentals, and catering services. I became a Registered Bridal
Consultant with the National Bridal Service. The bridal store was busy 60+ hours
a week, and every weekend we found ourselves doing weddings. After having children,
it became too hectic of a pace for me, so I closed the shop and Don continued
to do “Special Events”. Brides, whose weddings we had done, and
their friends, sisters and relatives starting calling to see if I was still
in the business. So, … my break was cut short and I started working from
our home. We stay booked by all these referrals. Here we are 27 years later
and we’re still in the business! Now, we’re even doing our bride’s
children’s weddings!
Our wedding business is “Creations by Debbie” and Don and his
father Don Sumner, Sr., own and operate “Events Plus, Inc.”, one
of Nashville’s original Special Event companies. Referrals keep us going
strong!! We always count it an honor and privilege to be a part of lasting
memories.
